Since the bathroom in the workplace is meant to be shared with other workers, so you have to also considerate other users as well. It is very important that you make sure the bathroom is still clean for the next user after you.
For example, if you splashed or spilled water onto the bathroom floors or counters then you should clean it up. The same goes in case you have used the toilet. Make sure to flushed it completely and keep the seat clean for the next user.
The second point to remember of bathroom etiquette in the workplace is to always keep your hand clean. Remember that you use workplace bathroom not your house bathroom so you have to keep the facilities clean and healthy for other users. By washing your hands or clean them up with hand sanitizer will help you prevent from spreading bacteria or other illness. It is also recommended that you soap your hands for fifteen to twenty seconds then rinse them with warm water. Afterward, you can dry your hands with tissue or hand dryer.
Aside from those two points of bathroom etiquette in the workplace, there is also another important point to take note. When you are using your workplace bathroom, you better not spray any perfumes or air fresheners. Remind yourself that the users of the bathroom are not only yourself but also other workers as well. You do not know if there are some of them who might be sensitive or allergic to this thing. If you think that you still left organic smell then it will be better if you flush the toilet with water until the smell is decreased.
Since it is not your private bathroom, it will be better if you do not stand right in front of the door or sit on the stall while you are waiting. It is also better if you do not use the bathroom for an escape place to receive a call because other users may hear you and it is considered inappropriate. These two last points are also some important points of bathroom etiquette in the workplace you better keep in mind.
